Train Blues #19, 3 and 2 (The Unforgettable but Never Remembered Station)

It was raining; they were soaked to the bone
Took the first train and left their hometown
They could dry their skins, but not her tears
There’s a long way before you can defeat your fears
Within that long road they tried to hold down
But times were hard and they couldn’t find a loan

She got off at the first station to go on by her own
The only thing he could do was to wear a frown
The train faded away; there was nothing left to hear
What would you call ‘there’ and what is ‘here’?
She walked away so she didn’t drown
Everybody someday has to be alone

Meanwhile, he wandered from wagon to wagon
He would have jumped out, he just wasn’t ready
When he made it to the terminal his eyes betrayed him
Visions of their argument filled the air
Her waving hair was present everywhere
As if reality came out from his wildest dream
The street was dark; the air, heavy
There wasn’t any wish-giving dragon

Her tears became anger; the anger, blood
And blood turned her holiness into mud
When the ground was dirty already
On those circumstances you can’t hold the rock steady
The girl tried to hold it, of course she failed
So she sent her trust to jail
While the rain was still pouring
Her tears mixed with the water that was falling

“It’s always the same”, he explained to me
“I’m not what she wants me to be”
“Well, what about her?”, I asked
“I don’t know, she always wears a mask
She sees my mistakes but not hers
I don’t know if she really cares”

I asked for her version of the story
But she’d gone with all her glory
Some said she’s fine, some said she died
We’ll never know who were right and who lied
Because, since the day she ran away from the train
None of us has seen her again
